Cady Noland is presenting new work at Gagosian’s Davies Street gallery in London, in an exhibition running from 12 October to 19 December 2026\. The presentation coincides with the relaunch of *The Clip-On Method*, a two-volume publication conceived, edited and designed by the American artist, first published in 2021.

Spanning 600 pages, *The Clip-On Method* functions as an artwork in its own right, bringing together extensive photographic documentation of Noland’s sculptures and installations with sociological, political and historical texts, alongside her own writings. Structured as a nonlinear archive, the publication offers an expansive account of a practice that has examined the material and symbolic structures underpinning American culture for more than four decades.

Among the texts included is Noland’s 1989 essay, ‘Towards a Metalanguage of Evil’, which explores the relationship between psychopathology and social behaviour. First developed as a slide lecture in 1987 and subsequently published in *Balcon* magazine, the text reflects the artist’s longstanding interest in the darker dimensions of American society. Its inclusion in the publication reinforces the relevance of themes that run throughout her practice, including violence, racism, celebrity, media culture, national identity and the mechanisms through which power and control operate.

Working across sculpture, installation and printmaking, Noland has exerted a significant influence on contemporary art since the late 1980s. Her practice frequently draws on recognisable objects, images and materials associated with American life, examining how cultural symbols acquire meaning and how they reflect broader systems of authority, social behaviour and collective identity.

Noland’s exhibition history includes presentations at the 44th Venice Biennale in 1990, the Whitney Biennial in 1991 and documenta 9 in Kassel in 1992\. A retrospective of her work was held at the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt between 2018 and 2019\. Her works are represented in major institutional collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and The Broad in Los Angeles.
